Known for their ornamental iron, the showroom at Arrowsmith Forge in Millbrook, NY houses a unique array of gifts for the home: Provencal pottery, Tabletop, Italian pewter, cashmere shawls, Czech crystal are gifts wonderful gifts for children are nestled alongside beds, tables, chandeliers and samples of Arrowsmith's architectural gates and railings. Although Arrowsmith’s clients comprise well-known architects, decorators and design world luminaries - ranging from Pierre Deux and WaterWorks to Studio Sofield, owners Debra and Fletcher Coddington bring the same level of expertise to every project they’re involved with. As they say, “Once you find us, you don’t have to settle. We'll make it to order.” And they do. Railings, furniture and chandeliers are designed and made on-site.

How long have you been in business?

What is your primary product or service?
Custom metal. All kinds. Furniture (interior and exterior), chandeliers and lighting and architectural appointments: gates, railings, grilles.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Co-owned and operated. Both of us have backgrounds in sculpture and art. Both of us have technical backgrounds as well. We work together but have both individually been at this work since we were teenagers and are now in our mid-60's. We met at a blacksmithing conference.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are compulsive regarding attention to detail and customer service. And so are our employees. We've been at this for over 40 years each and still love it.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Bigger is not always better for everyone. We have one location with no intention of expanding other than by developing our products to be the best they can. We want to make our grass very green right where it is. We are happy being good at what we do where we do it. We make our products right in Millbrook and sell them here as well. We also have a showroom that incorporates wonderful ephemera and home goods from around the world and local sources.

We're approximately 2 miles East of the village of Millbrook directly on Rte 44. Just past Audia motors on the right as you go east on Rte 44. As you're going East, if you pass the Mobil station on the right you've gone too far.

We accept all major credit cards including AmX. We also accept checks.
Which areas do you service?
We have no limit on areas served. We ship nationally as requested and have shipped internationally.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Debra Feiner Coddington and Fletcher Coddington own and run all aspects of Arrowsmith with several remarably able and talented employees
What are your hours of operation?
Currently we're open Mon, Wed, Thurs 9 - 5 Friday and Saturday 10:30 - 5:00 Closed Tuesday and Sunday. From mid May through December we also open Sunday 12 - 4. We're also open by appointment
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Our best advertisment are satisfied clients. It is enormously satisfying to have clients return to us for more work and trust us to make their dreams and ideas into reality. When clients love our work more the longer they own it; that it makes them happy, well, you can't ask for more than that.
